Description: This article had two principal objectives. The first one consisted of establishing a link the between poverty levels reached, and socioeconomic development levels that American countries falsely aspired to at the end of the 20th century. For this purpose a series of classifications were elaborated, in which these countries were divided into five groups based on indicators related to poverty, economics, education and health. The second objective consisted of establishing what have been, over the last millennium, the principal periods in the evolution of social economical development.
