dc.descriptionThis article aims to illustrate a general overview of the current situation of inequality and vulnerability that elderly people face in Mexico, making special emphasis to this situation in the state of Mexico. The approach will be based on a particular position that gathers different disciplines. The text will be presenting demographic data concerning the demographic transition problem from this point, a reflection is made about the great demographic importance that this group will have in decades to come. Next, a description will be made of the fundamental legal set which supports the construction of national and local welfare institutions. Subsequently; a quick glance will be taken to diverse public policies that the State of Mexico has designed through the XXI century for the well-being of this population in this case, to show the reaches of its benefits as institutions is attempted, since these mean to have different access to the opportunities, that is, these are the entrance to the inclusion or social exclusion. Finally, a general balance is made and challenges are posed in the matter of well-being for the immediate future.-
