Description: Ribbon-like coordination polymers composed of CeIII ions and TCNQX2 (TCNQ=tetracyanoquinodimethane; X=Cl, Br), but not TCNQ radicals, show unexpected magnetic ordering (see picture; Ce green). This behavior reveals remarkable subtlety for magnetic properties of lanthanide–organic materials.
