This article aims to make a theoretical reflection on the origin and practice of family medicine in Mexico from the field of Collective Health. These 2 elements share a social practice, which revolves around the health-disease process of the family from its origin and constitution as a social structure. There is where the social determinants converge direct and indirectly to impact on the reality of the community. Family medicine should develop a social medical practice and critical analysis in alliance with the Collective Health, because currently this family medicine is seen as a hegemonic biomedical medicine, stuffy and submissive. |
